Squaw Valley, CA – Season Ending Finale

Over in California, there was a big jump to end the season at Squaw Valley. Alex Kalange recently posted two videos of him jumping off the Gold Coast Express lift into a snow-making reservoir. The jump was estimated to be about 30+ feet into the cold water.

Alex has been banned from Squaw Valley for at least a few years; maybe forever. In the above post’s description, it says, “Today was for you Shane!” He was apparently dedicating his jump to Shane McConkey. McConkey was a freestyle skier and known as a Squaw Valley legend. Sadly, McConkey passed away in 2009 after attempting a jump in the Italian Dolomites.

Alex Kalange was lucky to make it out unhurt and even alive. Never attempt anything like this especially from heights onto the ground or frigid water. You will most likely be banned from the ski area similar to Kalange’s experience.
